Havilah Dance Company offers a range of beginner summer sessions and classes for students ages 2 through 10 years old who are looking to to learn dance and have fun this summer!
Join us for an underwater adventure into the world of beautiful Mermaids and thrilling Sharks. This dance and fun camp with a water fantasy theme will spark creativity in your little one through games, crafts and explorative movement to discover their inner mermaid and/or shark! Students will be introduced to beginner lyrical and jazz movement using the inspiration of fantastic sea creatures and visualization. Dancers will learn stretches, leaps, ballet placement, choreography, and improvisation and will be able to unleash their own innovative movement. They will participate in crafts and other themed activities that will take them into character, such as seashell crowns, shark fins, and will have fun themed snacks – that dancers will be able to make themselves – as well as participate in exciting outdoor activities including water play!
This introductory 3-week session combines the fundamentals of basic muscle control with the latest hip hop moves! Students will be introduced to choreography and learn how to direct power and isolation to different parts of the body, as well as learn how to channel the attitude of the (age appropriate) music. They will increase in coordination, rhythm, and flexibility. Students will also work on basic tumbling progressions: forward rolls, backward rolls, handstands, handstand drills, cartwheels, and round-offs.

This introductory 4-class session builds on the foundation of ballet with fun lyrical movement. Students will learn how to move their body fluidly and express emotion through movement. Students will work on combining this movement with ballet technique; and will be introduced to pirouettes, leaps, and extensions.
Students will work on basic tumbling progressions: forward rolls, backward rolls, handstands, handstand drills, cartwheels, and round-offs. For students who are advancing quickly, they will begin to focus on more challenging tumbling skills such as back walkovers and multiple cartwheels. We will focus a great deal on flexibility and gain a deeper understanding of the role flexibility plays in dance and acrobatics.
Get ready for a sweet ride down Candy Land Lane with our exciting and innovative dance camp for beginners. This fun-filled camp will get your dancer up and moving while using the inspiration and creativity of the game Candy Land. Dancers will be introduced to beginner stretches, leaps, ballet placements, choreography, improvisation as well as creative movement. They will participate in arts and crafts – such as making giant lollipops, fun-themed snacks, and an interactive live game of Candy Land using movement to get to Candy Castle. You child will have a blast exploring the different stops along the route of Candy Land!
Are you ready to Rock N Roll? Come be a part of our exclusive VIP group as we get ready to take the stage on tour! This original camp is designed to inspire the inner STAR in your dancer using fun & exciting music along hip hop and Jazz Funk dance styles. Dancers will be introduced to isolations of the body, fundamentals of basic muscle control, improvisation, power of movement, coordination, performance skills and confidence! We will use arts and crafts to get ready for our big debut – including making microphones and paper guitars to spark you dancers creativity and imagination. They will learn choreography and a little karaoke to put on a fun little show during the last part of our final day. So come and rock out with the HDC staff!
